“We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” by Sir Isaac Newton

Sir_Isaac_Newton.jpgIsaac Newton was born prematurely on Christmas day of 1642 in Woolsthorpe, England. He was the son of the already deceased Isaac and the absent Hanna Newton. By the young age of three his mother had taken him to live with his grandmother in order to remarried and start a new family.Much has been made of Newton's prolonged separation from his mother, and his deep hatred of his stepfather. Until Hanna returned to Woolsthorpe in 1653, after the death of her second husband, Newton was denied his mother's attention, a possible clue to his complex character. Newton's childhood was anything but happy, and throughout his life he verged on emotional collapse, occasionally falling into violent attacks against friend and foe alike. Even after his disfunctional family trauma, he still went on to become one of the words top thinkers of his age and ours.

"No great discovery was ever made without a bold guess." by Sir Isaac Newton

His mother returned to Woolsthorpe in 1653, Newton was taken from school to fulfill his birthright as a farmer. Gladly, he failed in this calling, and went to King's School at Grantham to get ready to go Trinity College, Cambridge. But the turning point in Newton's life came in June 1661 when he left Woolsthorpe for Cambridge University. Here Newton entered a new world, one he could eventually call his own. It is here at Cambridge that Isaac uncovered his love of mathematics although he had not made great strides as a student yet. In 1665 Newton took his bachelor's degree at Cambridge without honors or distinction.
